Parish Council
There are 16 places on the Parish Council and these are currently all filled. There is an election every 4 years (the next one is due in April 2011) with a ballot being held if there are more candidates than places. Any vacancies which may arise during the 4-year cycle are filled by co-option and will be publicised on this website and on the village notice board by the Post Office.
The council meets 9 times a year, with the Annual Parish assembly being held in April and the Annual Meeting (for the election of officers and appointment of committees) in May. Sub-committees cover finance, planning, allotments, footpaths and charities (there are 2 small charity funds) and make their recommendations to the full council. All Councillors, together with a number of outside members, are on the Memorial Field committee.
There are 2 parcels of allotment land, in Churchgateway and Tower Road. Allotments are currently available for a very modest rent- if you are interested please contact the Clerk (see below). A fomer allotment area, on Sandygate Lane, is now the Millenium Wood.
